At the 2023 IANA Convention, Jansteel USA proudly showcased the innovation of our 53′ domestic tandem gooseneck chassis. Michael Rivlin, a seasoned mechanical and design engineer at Jansteel, led an exclusive product demonstration, unveiling the cutting-edge features and superior quality of this remarkable chassis.
Built for Performance and Durability
One of the standout aspects of Jansteel’s chassis is the use of Grade A steel combined with hot rolled beams that extend the entire length of the chassis. This design decision enhances the chassis’ structural integrity, ensuring stability even under heavy loads. Reinforced with stiffeners in the back, this chassis can withstand the wear and tear that comes with long-haul transportation, while maintaining unparalleled performance and reliability.
Superior Lighting and Wiring Systems
Safety and efficiency come together with integrated Philips 3/4″ LED lights. DOT-approved and built to act as reflectors, these lights are considered some of the best on the market, offering longevity and clarity. To further support its advanced electrical system, Jansteel utilizes Philips harnesses with 16-gauge wires, capable of running 12-volt amps for optimal power. The GPS drop from Philips, powered by PowerFleet, ensures seamless fleet tracking and monitoring.
Strength Where It Counts
Jansteel’s gooseneck chassis isn’t just designed for strength; it’s built to last. Equipped with a Grade 80 gooseneck, the chassis can handle immense weight without compromising its structural integrity. Additionally, a reinforcement strap underneath, also made from Grade 80 steel, prevents the gooseneck from bending, providing additional peace of mind for operators who need to transport heavy containers over long distances.
Precision Engineering for Low Maintenance
Jansteel’s commitment to reducing maintenance costs is evident in the bolted frame design, which integrates seamlessly with the Philips harness. This allows users to unbolt the chassis during maintenance, enabling easy gooseneck replacements or harness updates without dealing with the entire frame. The inclusion of integrated gussets further enhances durability, preventing the cracking that occurs in other designs where the gussets are welded to the cross members and frame. With this improvement, Jansteel’s chassis promises a longer life and fewer maintenance concerns.
Reinforced Landing Gear and Flexible Configuration
The landing gear is another area where Jansteel sets itself apart. Using Jost’s A400 landing gear system, which comes with a five-year warranty and arrives pre-greased from the factory, Jansteel offers users the choice of upgrading to a 440 Magnum or aluminum landing gear for enhanced durability. Whether the landing gear needs to handle heavier loads or resist the elements, these customizable options ensure that Jansteel can meet the unique needs of each customer.
Innovative Design for Compliance and Versatility
The 53′ tandem axle configuration comes with an interchangeable slider bogie, allowing customers to switch between Hutch and ASM designs. The pin case, housed internally, and the 84″ slider ensure compliance with state regulations such as California’s requirement for the rear axle to be located 40 feet from the kingpin. The chassis also features recessed lights, shielded by metal and riveted for anti-theft protection, as well as a RIG system ICC bumper with a rear impact guard, ensuring that the chassis conforms to all safety standards.
Made in the USA, Trusted by the Industry
Every chassis produced by Jansteel is manufactured in the United States and built to meet the needs of intermodal equipment providers, chassis pools, truckers, and transportation companies. Jansteel’s products are trusted to carry shipping containers across states and countries, and their 53′ domestic tandem gooseneck chassis is no exception. With a focus on quality, safety, and innovation, Jansteel continues to set the standard in the intermodal chassis industry.
